Toronto Public Health warns of rise in downtown overdoses

Toronto Public Health has issued a warning to residents after an increase in overdoses was reported in downtown Toronto on Friday.

Health officials did not specify which drugs may be linked to the overdoses. However, they said they have received reports that a clear substance resembling glass may be circulating in the area.

Officials did not say how many overdoses have been reported or whether any deaths have occurred.

“Toronto Public Health is issuing an alert to remind the public to be safe when using substances,” the agency said in a news release.

“Toronto Public Health will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update if necessary.”
