The Cave, a landmark Saskatoon restaurant, is expected to reopen.
The prehistoric-themed restaurant on 8th street closed on Feb. 22 and transferred ownership.
Shortly after the closure, former restaurant manager George Kosmas said the new owners approached him about reopening The Cave.
“After some soul searching and having that time away from it, I just came to the realization that this building, this restaurant is in my blood,” Kosmas said in an interview with CTV News.
Kosmas managed the restaurant for many years alongside his mother and father, who originally bought the building with a business partner in 1973.
Kosmas said he has mixed emotions opening the restaurant back up, but overall, he’s excited to serve the community once again.

“It’s been very daunting, but exciting and nerve wracking. Frustrating at times. But, again, exciting. And I’m extremely happy to be back and hopefully serving Saskatoon soon,” he said.
He said they will serve the classics, but they are also planning to add some new items to the menu.
When asked about plans for a grand opening, Kosmas said they are going to “slowly ease into it.”
“I’m very fortunate that a lot of my old staff is going to come in and help me out with this new venture. But we still need to hire a few more people and complement our team,” he said.
Kosmas said he is still working on the logistics but plans to open the restaurant on Tuesday.
