A 56-year-old man is facing over 30 charges after a string of thefts from apartment building mailboxes early Sunday morning.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 2000 block of Main Street in the early hours of Sunday, around 2:30 a.m., with a caller reporting having seen someone breaking into mailboxes, the Saskatoon Police Service said in a news release Monday.
Police say the suspect was trying to leave the building as officers arrived and was arrested without issue. Officers found break and enter tools in his possession, and police said they located two full bags of suspected stolen mail nearby.
Police believe the mail is from three different apartment buildings in the 2000, 1600 and 1900 blocks of Main Street.
The 56-year-old suspect is charged with 27 counts of possession of stolen identity documents, possession of break and enter tools, and break and enter to commit a crime.
