Sask. First Nation residents asked to stay home following shooting

​Residents in the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation area are being asked to remain in their homes as police are investigating a shooting in the area.

According to Saskatchewan RCMP, the shooting was reported around 8:47 p.m. Saturday. Several calls to police reported gunshots in the area.

As of 10:30 p.m., Saturday, there was an increased police presence in the area.

People are asked to avoid the areas where officers are present and follow any police directions provided.

Police did not provide further details. However, the service said the public would be notified if there was an imminent risk to public safety.

Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is located about 150 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
