RCMP says pedestrian killed after being struck by SUV on northern Sask. highway

A Montreal Lake Cree Nation man is dead after being struck by an SUV on a north-central Saskatchewan highway on Saturday.

The Saskatchewan RCMP says the incident happened just before 8 p.m. on Dec. 14, when officers were called to the scene of a collision between an SUV and a pedestrian on Highway 969, located about 30 kilometres northeast of Waskesiu.

The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man from Montreal Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Police say his family has been notified.

According to a Sask. RCMP news release, the woman who drove the SUV stayed at the scene and investigators don’t believe impairment was a factor. She did not report any injuries.
