Hundreds of people gathered at the Saskatoon Field House for the 58th annual Knights of Columbus Indoor Games.
Athletes from across the globe – from Botswana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and the USA – entered the three-day track and field competition.
The invitational men’s 50 and 60 metre dash, the women’s pole vault, and the women’s shot put events featured some Olympians.
Canada’s Greg Stewart, a two-time paralympic champion in shot put, is this year’s guest speaker at the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games banquet. Stewart said he’s honoured to share his experience.
“Sports brought a lot to me. I’ve learned a lot about the importance of vulnerability and failure,” he said in an interview with CTV News on Saturday.
“Tonight, I’m just going to share a little bit more about that, and maybe empower and motivate people to seek a little bit more inner belonging.”
Stewart said he also spent the past few days speaking to inner city children and schools.
The track and field meet is set to wrap-up Saturday evening with the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games banquet.
