Youth charged in relation to Carry the Kettle quadruple homicide appears in court

A male youth charged with four counts of first-degree murder in a Carry the Kettle quadruple homicide made a brief virtual court appearance Wednesday.

A male youth charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with a quadruple homicide on the Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation made a brief virtual court appearance.

The accused’s identity cannot be revealed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He is one of two people facing four charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fey, and Terry Jack, who were found dead in a home at Carry the Kettle on Feb. 4, 2025.

The youth’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 11.

On Feb. 4, 2025, the four victims were discovered after File Hills Police Service officers were called to investigate “sudden deaths” at home in the community around 11:15 a.m.

In the days following the deaths, RCMP determined that the homicides were not random but rather a targeted act.
