An 18-year-old from Regina is facing a long list of charges after police spotted a speeding vehicle in the early morning hours of Sunday.
On Feb. 23, at around 4:20 a.m., officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the area of 7th Avenue North and McIntyre Street before losing sight of it.
With the help of the service’s aerial support unit, officers found the vehicle parked on the 500 block of Lorne Street. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident, according to police.
A search of the vehicle revealed a gun, ammunition and items consistent with drug trafficking.
As a result, an 18-year-old man from Regina faces nine counts. They include unauthorized possession of a firearm, obstructing a peace officer, possession for the purpose of trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime.
The accused appeared in provincial court on Monday.
