Regina’s former mayor Sandra Masters hired by Saskatchewan premier’s office

Sandra Masters, Regina's former mayor, will become deputy chief of staff of communications for the premier's office.

Former mayor of Regina Sandra Masters has found work with the provincial government as a member of Premier Scott Moe’s staff.

Sandra Masters is now serving as the deputy chief of staff of communications for the province’s executive council and premier’s office, according to an Order in Council signed Nov. 26.

The document lists Masters’ salary as $14,221 per month, which equates to just over $170,000 a year.

Payment of the salary is listed as beginning Dec. 1, 2025.

Masters served one term as Regina’s mayor, from 2020 to 2024. Elected amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, the city’s first-ever female mayor worked to navigate issues related to the pandemic, an increasingly visible homelessness population and scandal at Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL).

Prior to her turn as mayor, Masters served as board chair of REAL’s board of directors from 2014 to 2020. She also served as the manager of credit of the prairie region for Richardson Pioneer.

She recently worked as Principal at Colliers Project Leaders.

Masters faced a crowded pool of candidates in her re-election effort, ultimately coming in third behind Chad Bachynski, manager of Enterprise Networks at SaskEnergy, and former city councillor Lori Bresciani.

Bachynski would win the election by a margin of nearly 3,400 votes.
