Regina police arrest man after attempted break-in, threat with weapon

A man is in custody after allegedly trying to break into a home and threatening a resident with a weapon.

At around 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Robinson Avenue. The resident who called the police told the officers they witnessed a man who appeared to be trying to enter their home through their back door.

When the man was confronted, he allegedly threatened the resident with a weapon.

Officers learned that the suspects were fleeing down an alley east of Retallack Street. Police found two men running on the 1200 block of Rae Street and ordered them to halt.

Both men listened to police and stopped. Officers determined one of the men was not involved in the situation and he was released at the scene.

The other was found to be possessing a rifle receiver and knife.

The 27-year-old was charged with failing to comply with a probation order, carrying a concealed weapon, and assault with a weapon.

The accused made his first appearance in provincial court on Friday.
