Reaction pours after Saskatchewan Roughriders win 2025 Grey Cup

The Saskatchewan Roughriders victory in Sunday’s 112th Grey Cup has led to a flood of congratulations online.

The Roughriders beat the Montreal Alouettes 25-17 to claim the franchise’s fifth ever Grey Cup.

Sunday’s championship was held at Princess Auto Stadium, the home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Seeing their western rivals hoisting the cup on their home turf was enough for the Blue and Gold to voice their contempt via social media.

After attending the Grey Cup festival and stopping by Riderville, Prime Minister Mark Carney took part in the gameday itself, participating in the opening coin toss.

Speaking with TSN prior to kickoff, Carney jokingly endorsed the Roughriders for the win after learning that getting a “Carney” jersey in green and white would be significantly easier thanks to defensive lineman Malik Carney.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe had a front row seat to the Roughriders’ victory, being on the field as the Riders hoisted the cup after a 12-year hiatus.

Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski also made the trip to Winnipeg, showing his support by donning the green and white.

A championship parade for the Roughriders is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 in Regina.
