Lauther returns to lineup against Argos, Meyers and Milligan move to 1-game injured list

Brett Lauther will be the Roughriders’ kicker Friday night against the Toronto Argonauts, the team announced Thursday morning.

Lauther, 34, missed the Riders’ Week 18 game in Ottawa with a back injury.

In 14 games this season, the eight-year CFL veteran is posting his worst field goal percentage since he returned the Green and White in 2018 – making just 31 of his 45 attempts (68.9 per cent).

The return to the lineup comes a week after teammate Campbell Fair made his first CFL start against the RedBlacks, missing both of his convert attempts. Fair did not attempt a field goal.

Saskatchewan also signed a new leg in Michael Hughes earlier this week, which head coach Corey Mace hinted Tuesday, “any one of the three [kickers],” could have been starting this week.

Meyers and Milligan Jr. move to injured list

Meanwhile, receiver Dohnte Meyers and defensive back Rolan Milligan Jr. have each moved to the one-game injured list, according to the team’s lineup.

Meyers was Saskatchewan’s second pass catcher to reach 1,000 yards receiving this season – reaching the milestone last week against Ottawa.

He did not participate in the Riders’ practice Monday and was a limited participant the remainder of the week.

Milligan Jr. was away from practice all week, after appearing to suffer a leg injury Friday night. He did finish the game against the RedBlacks.

Kickoff Friday night against the Argos is 7 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium and on TSN.
