Extreme cold warnings remain in place for Regina and many portions of southern Saskatchewan Tuesday morning as a multi-day stretch of dangerous wind chills is expected to continue.
Most of the warned area will see wind chills at or below minus 40 on Tuesday, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said on its website.
“While wind chill values may moderate slightly during the day, they are anticipated to return to extreme levels overnight throughout the week over portions of southern Saskatchewan,” ECCC said.
As of 8 a.m. Tuesday the wind chill value in Regina was minus 41.
ECCC says frostbite can develop within minutes in these conditions, especially on exposed skin.
The daytime high for the Queen City on Tuesday is just minus 21, with an overnight low of minus 33 in the forecast, according to ECCC.
The average daytime high in Regina on Feb. 11 is minus eight, with the average overnight low about minus 19.
Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly near the end of the week.
