A blowing snow advisory has extended to southern Saskatchewan, including Regina, as well as many central parts of the province on Friday, with Highway Hotline advising drivers of multiple areas with poor conditions.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) on Friday, poor visibility from blowing snow is expected in some areas during the day, leading to hazardous travel conditions.
Areas under the advisory in the morning included the R.M’s of Biggar, Gull Lake, Kindersley, Maple Creek, Piapot, and Swift Current, among others.
Around 2:45 p.m., the advisory extended to Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Meadow Lake, and surrounding areas.

Wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour and falling snow are also expected in the afternoon in some areas, the weather agency said, with conditions expected to improve Friday evening.

The Saskatchewan RCMP is also advising drivers of poor road conditions in many parts of the province.
Multiple reports of rollovers on Highway 11 in the Davidson area were causing traffic to move slowly on Friday morning. RCMP said they have also received reports of whiteout conditions in the Melville area, affecting visibility and road conditions.
In an update from Highway Hotline around 4:30 p.m., travel was not recommended due to poor visibility and snow drifts on highways around Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Saskatoon, and North Battleford.
RCMP advises people to check weather and road conditions before venturing out.
