Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a suspect in connection to an alleged armed robbery at a Pembroke restaurant Monday morning.

Police say they responded to a restaurant in the 200 block of Pembroke Street West at approximately 11:45 a.m.

The suspect allegedly entered the store, brandished a firearm and demanded cash from an employee. The worker was not injured.

The suspect fled the scene with a “quantity of cash,” according to police.

In an update Monday afternoon, OPP say officers arrested a 32-year-old man of no fixed address on Lake Street at about 4:30 p.m.

He has also been linked to several thefts from local stores between January and March of this year. The items allegedly stolen include electronics, clothing, fuel, alcohol and BB gun ammunition.

He was charged with robbery using a firearm, disguise with intent, failure to comply with a release order and eight counts of theft under $5,000.

Police say the firearm used in the robbery has not been recovered.

The suspect remains in custody to await a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

An investigation continues.
