The 43^rd CHEO Telethon is Saturday on CTV Ottawa, introducing you to the staff and patients at the children’s hospital in Ottawa.

Your donations will help support the life-changing care, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and advanced treatments that CHEO’s patients and families depend on.

“Just about everything that happens here at CHEO happens because of the support from the community,” Steve Read, president of the CHEO Foundation, told CTV Your Morning Ottawa on Friday.

“When people come through the doors here at CHEO, the space they’re in, the equipment that’s used, the programs that are in place, all because of the community support.”

The CHEO Telethon will showcase the stories of six children and youths and their journeys at CHEO. You will meet Charley, Mirai, Elsa, Mila, Zianna and Charlotte.

“We’re very lucky to have some amazing families help us tell the story of CHEO to the community,” Read said.

CHEO president and CEO Dr. Vera Etches says she’s been “really impressed with the dedication of the team” since she joined the hospital.

“We have a lot of needs in the community and people show up every day to do their best in a system that is sometimes challenging,” Etches told Newstalk 580 CFRA on Friday.

Etches says the fundraising is “essential” to help transform the children’s hospital.

The CHEO Telethon will air Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on CTV Ottawa and on CTVNewsOttawa.ca. You can donate online at telethon.cheofoundation.com or by calling 613-730-CHEO (2436).

Last year’s CHEO Telethon raised $755,240 during the two-week campaign of raising money and awareness about CHEO.
