Para Transpo users can now sign up to receive automated notifications directly to their phones or email accounts to alert them about upcoming trips.

The service became available Monday.

It allows Para Transpo customers to receive SMS text messages, emails, or automated voice calls. Riders can choose to be notified one day before a trip, 15 minutes before the vehicle is estimated to arrive, when the vehicle actually arrives, and also when it leaves if a trip is missed.

“This new feature was developed and piloted in consultation with Para Transpo customers. It is part of OC Transpo’s commitment to enhancing Para Transpo by delivering customer focused services and improving communications, as outlined in the Transit Services Five Year Roadmap. OC Transpo continues to welcome feedback on this feature,” said Transit Services general manager Renée Amilcar in a memo.

Customers can sign up for the alerts by logging into their My Para Transpo account or by calling OC Transpo customer service at 613-560-5000.
