An Ottawa personal support worker has been charged after allegedly assaulting an elderly individual earlier this month.
Ottawa police say the assault took place at a retirement home in the Trim Road area on Feb. 5. The suspect was employed as a personal support worker.
A senior sustained minor injuries in the incident, police say.
A 65-year-old Ottawa woman was charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.
She will appear in court today.
Ottawa police are seeking additional victims or witnesses.
“The Ottawa Police Service continues to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences elder abuse to come forward. Reporting these incidents is an important step in stopping elder abuse,” Ottawa police say.
