Ottawa Charge star forward Emily Clark has entered a partnership with Broadhead Brewery in Orléans, creating a unique beer to support charitable causes in the city, such as the Ottawa Hospital’s Breast Cancer Centre.

The new brew was launched at The Craft Beer Market at Lansdowne Park.

Clark chose a raspberry wheat ale dubbed “Ottawa Wheat 26.” For Clark, this partnership is another sign that professional women’s hockey is coming into its own in the capital and making a difference in the community.

“It’s always an off-ice goal for me to be connected with the community any way I could be. So, to be able to build a relationship with a local business like Broadhead and be able to give back to a really important cause like the breast cancer unit at the Ottawa Hospital, and having those funds stay in the community is important,” Clark said. “I feel very lucky to be able to have that spotlight of attention on women’s sport right now and to be able to have my portion of it and to do good with that.”

For Broadhead Brewery, this partnership to support the Ottawa Hospital is important. Jamie White, the company’s CEO, has had cancer touch his family, so giving to this cause only natural.

“When I met Emily, her hard work and dedication resonated with me. Our motto is ‘work hard, drink easy.’ For me, our values aligned,” White said. “We both believe that health, hospitals, and that kind of thing are pillars of our community, and we wanted to give back”

Ottawa Wheat 26 is available on tap at the Beer Market at Lansdowne. You can get takeaway at Broadhead Brewery and it will soon be launched at some establishments across Ontario.
