Eastern Ontario man facing fraud charges following snow removal complaints, OPP says

An eastern Ontario man is facing charges following complaints of unfinished general contracting and snow removal jobs, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say the victims alleged that man charged them for services that he did not complete.

“Many towns/townships in Renfrew County have been affected. Primarily Arnprior, but some occurrences have been in Pembroke, Renfrew, and McNab-Braeside,” the OPP told CTV News Ottawa in a statement Wednesday.

The man who is from Arnprior was charged with 16 counts of fraud under $5,000, 16 counts of obtaining by false pretence under $5000, fraud over $5,000 and obtaining by false pretence over $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19.

The OPP notes that those charges have not been proven in court, yet, citing “an ongoing and complex investigation.”
