An Almonte, Ont. father and grandfather is $1 million richer after winning a Lotto 6/49 prize in the Gold Ball Draw that was held on Jan. 15.
Gerry Visser has been choosing the same numbers for 40 years. The recent winning caught him by surprise.
“I found out I’d won when I received an email from OLG and saw the prize amount. My eyes went wide with shock,” Visser said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
“It was hard to believe at first, but being here today confirms it was real!”
Visser says when his wife and best friend knew about the winning ticket, they became “over-the-moon.”
“Winning has been very exciting,” he said.
Almonte’s new millionaire is still deciding what’s next.
“I know I’ll keep working, but I’m considering investing, completing some home renovations, and maybe even taking a trip,’ he added.
The winning ticket was sold online.
