A collision between two tractor trailers and a car has left one person dead Saturday morning on Highway 138 in the Township of North Stormont, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. at MacNeil Road/County Road 22 and County Road 15.

The person who died was declared dead at the scene when responding crews arrived, police say.

The OPP says at this time, no further information about the deceased will be released.

In a statement to CTV News Ottawa, the OPP said it’s not clear yet whether driving conditions is a factor in this collision.

“An OPP collision reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigation Team members are working to determine the cause of this fatal collision,” reads the statement.

“While we know driving conditions are poor in many areas, we need to conduct a thorough investigation to determine why this crash happened.”

Highway 138 is closed at the intersection where the incident happened. Police say the highway is expected to be closed for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
