A 33-year-old woman has been arrested and a quantity of suspected cocaine seized following a police response to a disturbance in Kingfisher Lake First Nation on Sunday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) were dispatched to a residential address after receiving reports of a possible disturbance on the afternoon of Feb. 9.

“When police arrived, they were alerted to an unwanted person inside the home,” NAPS said in a news release.

“The female suspect was taken into custody without further incident.”

During the investigation, police discovered that the woman was in possession of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

As a result, the local woman has been charged with drug possession and drug trafficking.

The accused attended bail court on Monday and was released with conditions and a future court date.
