Sudbury — Santa's helpers were hard at work yesterday at the CTV studio in Sudbury.

Volunteers were busy wrapping mountains of gifts for local families ahead of the holidays.

The presents were purchased with the funds raised from the CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon, helping to make the season a little brighter for area children in need.

"This is 71 years. Everyone in need for a telethon because many families every year, we have more families requesting assistance and help, especially with toys… Bell Media, especially the CTV crew in Sudbury, they're doing an excellent job with help and assistance every year to make it a successful one… but we cannot do a successful telethon without the people calling in and honouring their donation," said Sam Khoury, Telethon Chair.

This year's CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon was last weekend and it raised over $280,000.
