Timmins police probe two crashes on Tuesday evening

A collision has closed Highway 655 at Algonquin Boulevard in Timmins. Police have closed the intersection completely & motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Timmins police are investigating two separate motor vehicle collisions that closed intersections across the city on Tuesday evening.

The first crash occurred at about 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 655 and Algonquin Boulevard East.

Highway 655 intersection reopened

The intersection was shutdown in all directions for almost four hours, reopening shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Police have not advised whether there are any injuries as a result of the first crash.

Second crash involving vehicle and cyclist

Staff Sgt. Mike Fortin advised CTV News, by email, of a second road closure due to a motor vehicle crash shortly after 6:15 p.m.

Police said officers are currently on the scene investigating a collision involving a motor vehicle and a cyclist at the intersection of Moneta Avenue and Pine Street South.

“The intersection is currently closed in all directions,” police said in a news release.

Officers have asked motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes as police continue to investigate the crash.

No estimates have been provided as to when the intersection will reopen.
