Two individuals have been arrested and suspected cocaine seized following a drug trafficking investigation in Webequie First Nation, the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) announced Friday.
On the morning of March 20, members of NAPS executed a search warrant at a residential address in the community. The warrant was obtained as part of an ongoing investigation.

During the search, police seized suspected cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. Two suspects were located in the home and taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old male and a 43-year-old female, both from Webequie First Nation, face charges of drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
“The names of accused individuals are withheld until charges against them have been sworn before the courts,” NAPS said in a news release.
The accused have been released with conditions and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
