Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is visiting northern Ontario this week with a stop in Kirkland Lake on Wednesday.
This is Poilievre’s first stop in northern Ontario since January and comes amid recent criticism from harm-reduction organizations and First Nation communities in the region over recent comments and on the heels of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh’s visit to the area.
Dubbed a ‘Bring it Home Rally,’ Poilievre and the Conservatives have promised to bring common sense back to Canada – by scaling back supervised drug consumption sites, which he recently referred to as “drug dens,” eliminating the federal carbon tax, which the party insists costs most Canadians more than they receive in rebates and by addressing “catch and release policies,” that he says endanger Canadians.
The Kirkland Lake Rally will be held at the Heritage North Conference & Events Centre on Government Road at 6 p.m. on July 31.
