Published:

Six people are in Sudbury police custody after an armed home invasion escalated to a shooting and $30K drug seizure.

A suspected Sudbury drug dealer has been charged and police have seized $11,500 in crack and fentanyl along with several weapons following a raid last Friday.

The emergency response unit searched a downtown home on Pearl Street and arrested three people, but later released two unconditionally at the scene.

“Detectives conducted a search of the residence and located approximately 87 grams of fentanyl, 29 grams of crack cocaine, two sets of brass knuckles, a replica handgun and $340 in cash,” Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a news release Tuesday.

In addition to three counts each of breach of probation and having a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, the 39-year-old male suspect is also charged with seven drug trafficking and weapons-related charges.

He remains in custody after attending court on Saturday to answer to the charges.

“Anyone with information related to individuals selling, trafficking or manufacturing illicit drugs in our community is encouraged to contact police 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers 705-222-8477,” police said.

“The integrated crime section aims to identify and disrupt organized crime in Greater Sudbury through innovative technology, collaborative partnerships and traditional police work resulting in the arrest of those involved, holding them accountable for their criminal activities and the seizure of illegal drugs, prohibited firearms and proceeds of crime.”
