Sault police seek public assistance in hair theft investigation

Sault police and Crime Stoppers ask for help identifying a suspect in a theft at a retail location on Great Northern Road on January 21, 2025.

Sault police are investigating a theft from a local business last month.

On Jan. 21, a male suspect stole packages of hair extensions from a retail location in the 500 block of Great Northern Road, according to police.

“The unknown suspect had a knife and used the knife to cut the packages down,” said officials with Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District in a news release.

Authorities said the value of the stolen merchandise was $557.

Portions of the incident were captured by video surveillance cameras and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

“Do you recognize this individual,” asked Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Sault police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
