Public tip leads to drug charges in northwestern Ont.

A public tip has resulted in drug-related charges following an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigation by its Sioux Lookout detachment.

On March 11, officers responded to a report of suspected drug trafficking at the Jeremiah McKay Kabayshewekamik Hostel in Sioux Lookout.

The investigation led to the arrest of a 46-year-old woman from Fort Severn First Nation and the seizure of illicit substances, including 30 grams of cocaine, 68 oxycodone tablets and 356 dilaudid pills.

Police said they estimate the street value of the drugs seized as $29,260.

Other items associated with drug trafficking and $6,970 in cash were also seized.

The accused is charged with three counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. She was held for a bail hearing and remanded to the Kenora District Jail.

A court appearance is scheduled for March 17.
