In a news release Friday, police said the suspect was wearing a black winter coat with the hood up, a ski mask and blue-lens ski goggles.

He demanded the cashier empty the register and fled the scene, police said.

Two images of the suspect have been released and police hope anyone with information about the incident will contact the Kapuskasing detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

In an update March 12, police said they believe it was an isolated incident.

“There is no threat to public safety,” OPP said.

“The OPP would like to remind residents to always be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to police.”

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit information online.

Information that leads to an arrest could result in a $2,000 reward.

“Armed robberies are serious and violent crimes that put the safety of employees, customers and the entire community at risk. Incidents like this create fear and erode the sense of security in our towns,” OPP said.

“Solving this case is a priority for the OPP and we urge anyone with information to come forward. Even the smallest detail could be the key to identifying the suspect and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.”
