Female pedestrian, 26, killed in Naughton area crash in Greater Sudbury

Greater Sudbury police are investigating after a 26-year-old pedestrian was killed by a vehicle in the Naughton area Monday morning.

Greater Sudbury police are investigating after a 26-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Naughton area Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene on RR55 and Simon Lake Road near Gorman Street in Walden around 5 a.m., Sudbury police said in a news release.

“The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene,” police said.

“Upon arrival, Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and Greater Sudbury Police Services began life-saving measures on the pedestrian who had been struck by the vehicle on the roadway.”

MR55 between Simon Lake Road and Gorman Street was closed in both directions for about six hours during the investigation.
