North Bay OPP: Transport driver had suspended licence

A 22-year-old commercial motor vehicle driver has been charged after police in North Bay responded to a traffic complaint May 19 on Highway 11.

Ontario Provincial Police said the driver, who is from Nova Scotia, had a suspended driver’s licence.

The complaint came in around 6:20 p.m. and involved a southbound CMV travelling on Highway 11 in North Bay.

“Police located and stopped the vehicle,” the OPP said in a news release.

Will be in court in July

“During the investigation, officers determined the driver was operating the CMV while under suspension.”

The driver has been charged with three counts of driving while suspended.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 3. The vehicle was also impounded for seven days at the owner’s expense.

“The OPP would like to remind the public that a valid driver’s licence issued from another province does not authorize an individual to drive in Ontario if their driving privileges are suspended in Ontario,” police said.

“Drivers are responsible for ensuring they are properly licensed and legally permitted to operate a motor vehicle in the province.”
