McDougall Energy finalizes purchase of two Cochrane businesses

McDougall Energy Inc. and McDougall Transportation Inc. have acquired Meridian Fuels and Northern Freight & Logistics, the companies announced this month.

The acquisition of the Cochrane, Ont.-based businesses was finalized Feb. 10..

“McDougall Energy is excited to welcome the teams and customers of Meridian Fuels and Northern Freight & Logistics to the McDougall Energy family,” McDougall Energy said in a news release.

Family-owned businesses combine

The deal brings together family-owned companies that serve commercial, industrial, mining and residential customers throughout the Cochrane region and beyond.

McDougall Energy is a third-generation, family-owned Canadian business headquartered in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. The company was established in 1949.

“As one of the largest, most diversified, 100 per cent family-owned fuel and lubricant marketers and distributors in Canada, McDougall Energy has local offices across Ontario,” the company said.
