SAULT STE. MARIE — The Garden River First Nation has donated $15,000 to the Sault Area Hospital, aiding in its fight against COVID-19.

The First Nation is also looking to help out social services throughout the district.

"We know these are difficult times for everyone and making ends meet and having access to adequate healthcare is important," said Chief Andy Rickard. "We are proud to make these donations to worthy and much needed organizations."

The Community Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, St. Vincent Place and Algoma Harvest are also beneficiaries of the donations.

Each organization will receive $1000.
