A 19-year-old man from Drummondville has died after a run-off-road accident early Wednesday morning on Highway 40 West in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

According to provincial police (SQ), the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned and ended up in the central median.

Four other people, aged 22 to 35, were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident. The 19-year-old man was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The SQ says weather conditions may have been a factor in the accident.

Noovo Info reported that the five individuals in the car were employees of Construction Sawland Inc., on their way to work at the construction site of the new Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital.

The four surviving workers have been discharged from the hospital.

Jean Landry, the company’s owner, told Noovo Info that they have set up a crisis team to support their employees.

The SQ and the Quebec coroner have launched investigations into the crash.
