The dome that covers soccer fields at Concordia University’s Loyola campus has collapsed.
On Monday, a spokesperson told CTV News that the combined weight of the snow from back-to-back snowstorms on Thursday and Sunday caused the structure to collapse “and it then suffered a major tear, making it unusable.”
Crews are assessing the damage but the university says since the dome is erected before the winter months, it will not be possible to set it up again for the rest of the season.
The Montreal area received more than 70 centimetres of snow since Thursday and was under a blowing snow advisory for much of the day on Monday.
