Montreal police (SPVM) have arrested a suspect in connection with an assault of a 20-year-old man in a Metro station.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly shook a man, Sebastian Gutierrez, while he was on the platform.
In a press release, the SPVM said that various elements gathered by the investigation team helped identify the suspect.
“The 28-year-old was apprehended on Jan. 30. He appeared in court on Jan. 31 at the Montreal courthouse to face two charges: assault and uttering threats. He will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings,” police said.
On Jan. 27, at around 4:42 p.m., the victim was on the platform of the Lionel-Groulx station Metro when the suspect allegedly came up behind him, grabbed his bag and violently shook him.
Disoriented, the victim reported the incident to special constables with the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), who then escorted the individual out of the station.
Gutierrez previously told CTV News that he felt like he could have died that day.
