A man died after being stabbed in Montreal’s Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough on Feb. 3, 2025.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing in Montreal’s Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough overnight Monday.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call about the incident just after midnight.

When officers arrived at the scene, near a home on Everett Street and d’Iberville Street, they found a man with serious injuries to the upper body.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition and died later Monday morning.

Two people at the scene were arrested, and police confirmed Monday evening that one of them appeared in court at 9 p.m. to be charged with murder.

The accused was remanded into custody pending his next court appearance on Wednesday.

A police spokesperson said the second person, a 35-year-old man, was questioned by investigators and released without charges.

The stabbing marks Montreal’s second homicide of 2025, just hours after another one in the Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

On Sunday evening, a 55-year-old was killed in a shooting on Saint-Jacques Street near Beaconsfield Avenue.

No arrests have been made in that case but the investigation is ongoing.
