Man dies after fight with IGA security guard in Longueuil

A 42-year-old man is dead after an altercation with a security guard at an IGA grocery store on Montreal’s South Shore.

Longueuil police (SPAL) received a 911 call at 6:45 p.m. about the incident at 1401 Chambly Road.

“A man was reported to be unconscious following a physical altercation with a security guard,” police note.

He was transported to hospital, where his death was pronounced.

“The security guard involved in the incident, a 20-year-old man, was arrested,” police said.

He met with investigators and has since been released.

A security perimeter was established, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading up to the death.
