A Laval police (SPL) officer was arrested and suspended last week after “pedophile hunters” allegedly set him up.
“A police officer has been suspended and arrested and an investigation is underway,” said SPL spokesperson Laurent Arsenault.
The SPL agent has been suspended with pay, but Arsenault said that police could not speak about the officer’s personal file.
“We would like to emphasize that the events did not occur while the officer was on duty,” he added.
Charges have not been filed.
The group that allegedly set the officer up was a citizens’ group and not affiliated with the SPL or another police force, according to a source.
