Four-legged friends take over downtown Montreal square at ‘Winterpaw’

Puppies and their owners took over a downtown Montreal square as the 2025 edition of WinterPaw kicked off.

Montrealers are nuts for their mutts.

Humans and their four-legged friends came out in packs to participate in 2025’s “WinterPaw” in downtown Montreal at Sir George-Etienne Cartier Square on Sunday.

The event was organized by “PAWSOME Concierge,” a pet care organization founded by Terry D’Agostino.

“We believe in bringing activities together to bring to the community and have fun,” she said.

Tails were wagging, new friends were made, and D’Agostino said it’s the perfect opportunity to get used to being around dogs if you’ve never had a pet.

“You really get a lot of people that are not sure if they want a dog as well,” said D’Agostino. “It’s a great event to kind of see all the breeds come together and see the different personalities.”

Pet personalities were on display from big to small and even fashionable.

The event wasn’t just for the dogs but also an opportunity for pet parents to connect.

“It’s just really nice to see other dog owners in the city,” said D’Agostino. “You talk to them on your walks. It’s nice to socialize. So it’s really nice to meet other people with pets.”

She said she’s seen an increase in attendees year after year.

When the pups weren’t parading, they did dog yoga with their parents.

“I tell everybody out there, a dog is unconditional love,” said D’Agostino.
