Montreal got a taste of spring on Tuesday, but it’s not going to last very long.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a flash freeze warning for parts of southern Quebec, including Montreal, as the temperature is expected to drop significantly over the next 24 hours.
The city reached a high of 11 C with partly cloudy skies on Tuesday.
“Temperatures are expected to fall rapidly behind a cold front this evening. Wet snow and any additional precipitation will freeze as temperatures drop,” ECCC said in its warning.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.”
The weather agency recommends drivers adjust their driving behaviours as the temperature changes on Wednesday.
The temperature is expected to reach -2 C Wednesday with a wind chill making it feel like -16 in the morning before it climbs up -4. The low will be -8 C with a wind chill of -15.
