Drugs and guns seized in Quebec police operation

Quebec provincial police (SQ)‘s firearms trafficking and organized crime squad seized multiple firearms and drugs in Mont-Saint-Grégoire on Thursday.

The SQ said that the EILTA (l’Équipe intégrée de lutte contre le trafic d’armes à feu) squad carried out a search at a residence located on Rang du Grand Bois, as well as a garage and a vehicle and seized the following:

  • Two handguns
  • About 10 long guns
  • Several rounds of ammunition of various calibres
  • Over $5,000 in Canadian currency
  • Nearly 4,000 methamphetamine tablets
  • More than 40 grams of cocaine

“Kevin Masse-Ortiz, 36, was arrested in connection with the search. He remains in custody and could face charges relating to possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of firearms, possession of prohibited firearms and negligent storage of firearms,” the SQ said in a press release.

Masse-Ortiz appeared in court on Thursday.

According to the SQ, the investigation was launched in January based on information received by the public.
