Theft from vehicle results in foot pursuit and arrest: Sarnia police

Sarnia police have laid charges after receiving reports of a man attempting to steal from vehicles.

They attended the scene in the 600 block of Oxford Street just before 10 p.m. Friday night.

When police arrived, they said the suspect exited a vehicle and jumped over a nearby fence in an attempt to escape.

After a physical confrontation, officers were able to take the suspect into custody. The arresting officer was uninjured in the altercation.

A 43-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with resisting arrest, trespassing at night, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime.
