Section of Highbury Avenue closed as road collapses due to water main break

A water main break and resulting road collapse will close down a portion of Highbury Avenue until Tuesday.

The public is being asked to avoid a section of Highbury Avenue Saturday morning after a water main broke and the road partially collapsed.

According to CTV News London’s Brent Lale, a water main break on Highbury Avenue at Jensen Road Saturday morning has led to a partial collapse of the street.

Repairs are currently underway, but city says the street will be closed all weekend and is not expected to reopen until Tuesday at the earliest.

Over the next few days the city will have to remove the asphalt and examine what’s underneath in order to access and repair the road.

Drivers are asked to to avoid Highbury Avenue between Fuller Street and Kilally Road while repair work continues.

Police ask drivers to find an alternate route in the meantime and follow detours.
