PPC leader would impose moratorium on all new permanent residents.

The leader of the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) says if elected, his government would place a moratorium on new permanent residents to Canada, including those married to Canadians.

“The moratorium is, yes, it’s for everybody. Everybody who wanted to come to our country. Now, we will stop that, we will have that moratorium,” said Maxime Bernier while speaking in London Wednesday outside the government of Canada Citizenship and Immigration office in London.

He made the pitch to a couple dozen supporters on hand to hear his platform on immigration.

“First, impose a moratorium on new permanent residents for as many years as necessary until the housing crisis has cooled down … Second, deport all illegals who are staying in Canada after their visas have expired … Third, drastically lower the number of foreign students and temporary foreign workers,” said Bernier.
