Impaired, dangerous driving charges laid after Wellington Road crash in London

Two people were sent to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, after serious crash that has closed a stretch of Wellington Road.

Charges have been laid following a crash in south London on Sunday.

Shortly after 12:20 a.m., police said they received several 911 calls about a serious collision on Wellington Road, between Commissioners Road East and Southdale Road East.

According to police, a speeding black Chevrolet Tahoe struck two vehicles and a telephone pole before coming to rest after hitting a business sign.

London fire crews helped remove the female driver and an adult female passenger from the Tahoe.

Paramedics transported the driver to hospital with minor injuries. The passenger was taken to hospital with life‑threatening injuries.

Police said the driver allegedly assaulted paramedics and police officers while on the way to hospital and damaged a police radio. Once at the hospital, she allegedly assaulted a nurse.

Occupants of the vehicles struck by the Tahoe were assessed by paramedics and received treatment for minor injuries.

A 23‑year‑old woman from London is charged with:

• Mischief under $5,000
• Failure to stop at the scene of an accident
• Failure to comply with a release order
• Assaulting a peace officer
• Three counts of assault
