Confrontation escalates to assault with a weapon in downtown London: police

A London man has been charged following a confrontation downtown over the weekend.

Police say that on Sunday morning, at approximately 7:30 in the area of Wellington Street and Simcoe Street, two men in a residential building were arguing when one of the men pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the other man, threatened, and shoved him.

That the victim called 9-1-1, and police arrested the suspect man, however, a search of the suspect did not result in the firearm being located. Officers did however find a piece of pipe on him.

A 31-year-old man from London has been charged with assault, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.
