Century home destroyed by fire, deemed suspicious

A fire has been deemed suspicious after a home was destroyed overnight in Newbury. CTV London’s Gerry Dewan has the details.

A century home under construction in the town of Newbury was destroyed by an overnight fire, which police have deemed suspicious.

Newbury Fire Chief Chad Trethewey says fire crews were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Trethewey said the home was unoccupied and had been lifted so a new foundation could be formed underneath.

The fire started at the rear of the home and flames covered the back of the building when fire crews arrived.
